S.W.O.T analysis

S.W.O.T

My strengths are that i know how to use the software they use at school to create music. This is garage band. I know how to use it because i have been learning it at home and been trying to make more music at home to help me with my coursework.

My weaknesses is that at this moment of time i do not have any additional/ advanced music software to create better pieces of music. This is because the school cannot afford decent music software so i have to buy it myself.

My opportunities are that i am now looking in to buying reason or logic (music software). I have found it for around £200 online and thinking about buying it and then downloading it to my laptop at home. this will allow me to get better music and beats.

My threats are that i am going to get used to using advanced music software as i will not be used to using this. I will also have to save up over £200 for this music software. I will have to get more advanced music software because i think using garageband is too easy and i need more of a challenge.

may 2016

In may I first finished my 4 minute piece, I used garage band and included various instruments and loops. My song is mainly based around the genre hip-hop. My inspiration was musicians such as Kanye and jay z.

i started my new composition on garage band which I wanted more of a mellow song more than a fast paced song. my inspiration for this song was m83 and imagine dragons. This composition is more of an indie genre.

today I started to write lyrics around philosophy, the thought of not knowing what is going to happen next and about expecting the unexpected. 

nearly finished my second composition which is just over 4 minutes long. it has a bassline, melody and 4 beat chorus.

i have finally put the pieces all together for my 2nd composition and now planning my 3rd song

a sudden upset just cased my phone to run out of memory, this meant I had to upload my songs on YouTube.

June 2016

   I started my new song today, I developed an intro however I felt it was too long so I needed to shorten it by 3 secs. I also added a few loops into it and started playing around with a beat which I thought fitted in perfectly.

i started to add a nice rhythm for the melody which was nice and then mixed the beat in with a new one which created a nice flow

i now started my chorus which I believe was really fun to make as I added a really call drop and it also has a nice lead up to the drop.

i am just working on my ending and so far my song is coming along nicely, it has a melody and chorus and more. my song should be around 3 minutes.

i have made a rough ending however now I just need to adjust things so it flows and it all is perfect.

July 2016

i have finished my tweaks today which means my song is now done. I now need one more song to add up to 10-15-minute piece.

i have had a lot of time on my hands now lately so since I have my software at home I have been working on my song at home, this means I am now half way through my song 4. which is more like a backtrack since it has a really nice soft flow throughout it all.

I have been working on a ending to my song which sounds really nice and flows perfectly in the song (even though it is quite repetitive).

Just finished my ending to my song, I believe it is a really nice song to listen to as it is really soft and mellow which even though it’s a change from my other songs I still believe it can still fit into the genre.

September 2016

In my lessons I have been trying to work on my blog. this is because I recently heard that this was going to help our levels and I did not know this,

Today I also found that some terrible news that our songs were supposed to be 3 minutes’ maximum. But since my old teacher did not tell us this mine are all over 3 minutes, and one over 4 and a half minutes.

I have also started to make new songs in the meantime just in case of anything happening to the songs.

I have now nearly finished another song because I have the software on mobile so it means that I can work on it outside of school.

October 2016

I have now finished a new song; this means that I can now be prepared for the worst.

I am just waiting for Mr Flowers to cut my music until it is in the right amount.

November 2016

In November I have just got the brief, this means I now know what I am aiming for, this means that I need a 12-15-minute piece, however, I have already got enough to finish composition because I easily got over 4 songs.

December 2016

Because my last teacher told me that I had to have between 12-15 minutes I made enough for around 13 minutes, however I have recently learned that actually it was supposed to be at least 15 minutes, this meant that I needed to create another song.
